About TakeHome
An independent site that turns UK tax rules into numbers you can actually use.
What this site is
TakeHome is a free set of UK salary and tax calculators. There is no company behind it and no sales pitch. It exists because working out what you actually take home in the UK is harder than it should be, and most of the tools that do it are either too shallow to be useful or too old to be right.
Everything here runs on one calculation engine, built from the rates HMRC publishes and checked against them. When the rates change on 6 April, the engine changes once and every page updates with it.

How we work
Rates come from the source
Every figure is taken from gov.uk, not copied from another calculator. How we calculate lists each rate and links to where it came from, and our editorial policy sets out the rules we follow.
Results are checked, not assumed
Before a calculator goes live its output is compared against published figures from several independent UK calculators. Where they disagree, we work out why before publishing.
We say what we do not cover
Every tool has limits. Ours are written down rather than hidden, on the methodology page.
We date everything
Each page says which tax year it uses and when it was last reviewed, so you can tell at a glance whether it is current.
What we are not
We are not accountants or financial advisers
Nobody here is a chartered accountant, a tax adviser or an IFA, and nothing on this site is personal advice. The calculators do arithmetic on published rates. They cannot know your full circumstances, and for anything that matters you should speak to a qualified professional or contact HMRC directly.
How the site is paid for
At the moment it is not. There are no adverts, no affiliate links, no tracking and no email list. If that changes, this page and the privacy policy will be updated before it happens, not after.
